The irrigation activities during the said period witnessed the inclusion of many major irrigation projects. Additionally, the Irrigation Department also began the introducing of pump and ground water irrigation a new concepts.

The principle new works brought into operation were the Washaung weir, Kachin State; Yinmale weir, Magway Division, Simigon and Letpanchibaw pump-lift irrigation, Mandalay Division, Nantlat weir, Phaing Lon weir an Hopong Valley irrigation works, Shan State and the Kanni pump-lift irrigation, Magay Division.

gwedaung reservoir, Kayah State; Pin tank, Magway Division; Mondaing, Pyaungbya, Khetlan, Yezin, Kyetmauktaung, Ngalaik, Sedawgyi in Mandalay Dvision and North Nwin, Shwely and Pyinbongyi reservoirs in Bago Division.

The years from 1962-1988 brought into establishment the following new irrigation potential:-

The following are major irrigation works out of (98) irrigation projects completed during the period between 1962 and 1988.

(a) Washaung Weir
It is situated in Waingmaw Township of Kachin State. Length of the weir is (258.5) feet nd height is (21) feet. Main canal of the weir is (12.16) miles long and its distributary canals are about (54.43) miles in total. Irrigable area is (17,450) acres of agricultural land. Washaung weir had been constructed during 1962-63 to 1966-67.

(b) Ngwedaung Reservoir
Ngwedaung reservoir is situated in Demoso Township, Kayah State. Dam is (6,000) feet in length an its height is about (35) feet. Full-tank capacity of the reservoir is (8,920) acre-feet to be able to irrigate (6,291) acres of agricultural land. Main canal of the reservoir is (8.56) miles in length and its distributary canals are in total (6.62) miles long. Ngwedaung Dam had been constructed during 1962-63 to 1964-65.

(c) Chaungmagyi Reservoir
It is stuated in Pyawbwe Township of Mandalay Division. Dm is (11,200) feet in length and its height is about (96) feet. Full-tank capacity of the reservoir is (40,200) acre-feet to be able to irrigate (9,276) acres of agricultural land.

Main canal of the reservoir is (12.86) miles in length and its distributary canals are n total (2,0.53) miles long. Chaungmagyi Dam had been constructed during 1969-70 to 1981-82.

(d) Pyaungbya Reservoir
Pyaungbya Reservoir is located in Myingyan Township of Mandalay Division. Dam is (6,530) feet in length and its height is abut (70) feet. Full-tank capacity of the reservoir is (27,960) acre-feet to be able o irrigate (5,840) acres of agricltral land.

Main canal of the reservoir is (13) miles in length and its distributary canals are in total (49) miles long. Pyaungbya Dam had been constructed during 1965-66 to 1969-70.

(e) Khetlan Reservoir
Khetlan Reservoir is located in Nwahtogyi Township of Mandalay Division. Dam is (4,000) feet in length and its height is about (59) feet. Full-tank capacity of the reservoir is (15,200) acre-feet to be able to irrigate (7,025) acres of agricultural land.
Main canal of the reservoir is (7.7) miles in length and its distributary canals are in total (46.66) miles long. Khetlan Dam had been constructed during 1967-68 to 1972-73.

(f) Yezin Reservoir
Yezin Reservoir is located in Pyinmana Township of Mandalay Division. Dam is (8,100) feet in length and its height is about (110) feet. Full-tank capacity of the reservoir is (60,000) acre-feet to be able to irrigate (15,850) acres of agricultural land.

Main canal of the reservoir is (5.96) miles in length and its distributary canals are in total (58.39) miles long. Yezin Dam had been constructed during 1966-67 to 1975-76.

(g) Kyetmauktaung Reservoir
Kyetmauktaung Reservoir is located in Kyaukpadaung Township of Mandalay Division. Dam is (8,500) feet in length and its height is about (1,12.5) feet. Full-tank capacity of the reservoir is (73,100) acre-feet to be able to irrigate (29,786) acres of agricultural land.

Main canal of the reservoir is (19) miles in length and its distributary canals are in total (7.19) miles long. Kyetmauktaung Dam had been constructed during 1961-62 to 1967-68.

(h) Ngalaik Reservoir
Ngalaik Reservoir is located in Pyinmana Township of Mandalay Division. Dam is (3,980) feet in length and its height is about (82) feet. Full-tank capacity of the reservoir is (75,000) acre-feet to be able to irrigate (21,100) acres of agricultural land.

Main canal of the reservoir is (13.32) miles in length and its distributary canals are in total (51.68) miles long. Ngalaik Dam had been constructed during 1978-79 to 1986-87.

(i) Sedawgyi Reservoir
Sedawgyi Reservoir is located in Madaya Township of Mandalay Division. Dam is (4,120) feet in length and its height is about (133) feet. Full-tank capacity of the reservoir is (363,000) acre-feet to be able to irrigate (127,000) acres of agricultural land. Main canal of the reservoir is (43) miles in length and its distributary canals are in tot (584) miles long. (134) millions of kilowatt-hour Hydro-power is being generated annually from this reservoir. The reservoir is the second largest one in Myanmar by its size. Sedawgyi Dam had been constructed during 1976-77 to 1987-88.

(j) North Nawin Reservoir
North Nawin Reservoir is located in Pyay Township of Bago Division. Dam is (5,300) feet in length and its height is about (118) feet. Full-tank capacity of the reservoir is (291,000) acre-feet to be able to irrigate (96,769) acres of agricultural land. The reservoir itself is the third largest one in Myanmar by its size.

Main canal of the reservoir is (45) miles in length and its distributary canals are in total (278) miles long. North Nawin Dam had been constructed during 1967-68 to 1981-82.
